Some think that we are living in an insane world, a common thought that isn't totally true. A more true statement could be, we are living in a world driven/run by powerful people who are insanely goal directed. These powerful ego centered people have a goal to be in absolute control and they have had that same goal for hundreds, possibly thousands of years and yes they are consistent. I once worked with a group of extreme cognitively impaired individuals and one of the their common traits is that they are very consistent. If they wanted something, they kept after that goal until it was achieved and the only thing that would shift their goal directed behaviors, was to establish a program that allowed for consistency on the part of the staff that matched and exceeded theirs (this isn't all that went into a successful behavior change program, but it was a major part). It was my responsibility as behavior specialist to write and establish these behavior change programs. I am not calling the individuals that I worked with insane, however I am calling these control hungry people insane, because they have little else on their minds, than ultimate control.
I have a philosophy of self empowerment and freedom, which doesn't fit well with control freaks. For hundreds and thousands of years we (the masses) have been fighting in, dying in and paying for their wars, following these insane people and making it possible for them to be in power. If we the masses don't wake-up the insane people will have us totally where they want us, zoned out on TV, commercial advertising, purchasing/consuming the products (many times junk) they produce and voting them into office, so that we can stay where we are, under their control.
There are many, many more of us than them and we must understand that their being in power depends on us. They are in power because of us and they can't be in power/control without our blessings and it is as simple as that. So what to do? A very simple behavior program for us to change their behaviors would include not watching TV, limiting exposure to commercial advertisements, stop purchasing stuff that just isn't needed (possibly not wanted) and start to think for yourself, outside of the box. What if they started a war and we didn't participate? Butch
