I ran into an acquaintance at a coffee shop that I frequent and he told me of how sick he had been for the last two weeks. He went on to explain that he had been suffering from the flu and that he knew that he had the flu because he had gone to the Doctor for a diagnosis and the diagnosis was positive for the flu. He then went on to explain to me how sick he had been.
I then asked him why he had chosen to experience being sick with the flu. Then, I added that after all it was flu season, that he quite surly had decided to participate in the "Flu Season", that many others had decided to participate also. And, that the diagnosis did confirm to him that he had the flu and that he was then able to fully participate in the season, in an appropriate manner, by being very ill. I asked him how he was feeling now? He gave me a very strange look and departed the coffee shop without even saying good by.
I have probably lost him as an acquaintance and that is OK, because I do prefer to be around empowered people. Robert Brown
